David Embury  教授 简介

David Embury教授毕业于英国曼切斯特大学，并在英国剑桥大学获博士学位，他在金属及复合材料的变形与断裂、材料电子显微学的应用、金属基复合材料的加工、超高强度材料等方面的研究上有着很深的造旨，共撰写5部专著，发表近200篇学术论文，并荣获十几项荣誉，其中包括：加拿大金属物理学会金质奖章、加拿大皇家学会会员和美国工程院院士等荣誉。

报告摘要：

Traditionally in materials Science  we consider the relationship of structure and properties and develop homogeneous materials in which we control the scale of the microstructure and the volume fraction of the constituent phases.In this way we often face the demand for conflicting properties for example strength and ductility.In addition to developing homogeneous structure we can either vary the geometry of the component or  the spatial distribution of the phases .That is we add additional length scales to the structure and so develop Architectured Materials .This talk will show some examples of how Architectured Materials can be developed using both steels and Al alloys and outline how these materials can be used to extend our ability to related the selection of materials to engineering design requirements.
